The victim, identified as Ananya, allegedly took the extreme step after her fiancé began pressuring her to call off the wedding immediately following the formal celebration.

The incident has sparked outrage across the region, highlighting the devastating psychological impact of social stigma and the breach of trust in matrimonial arrangements.

Family members state that the engagement, held on Wednesday, was a joyful affair attended by close relatives from both sides. However, the atmosphere shifted drastically by Wednesday night. According to the victim's brother, the fiancé, a software engineer based in Hyderabad, contacted Ananya shortly after the ceremony to express his desire to "cancel the nuptials."
