Margaux Mirkin, the heiress of Budget Rent a Car founder Morris Mirkin, became the victim of a violent home invasion at her residence located on Lookout Mountain Avenue in Hollywood Hills. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:30 PM when three masked assailants broke into her home, demanding valuables, including cash and jewelry.

The attackers reportedly choked Mirkin and left her injured inside the residence before fleeing the scene. Neighbors have described the street as particularly dark and secluded, which they think might have made it an attractive target for criminal activity.

Following the assault, police noted that a significant amount of cash and jewelry was stolen from the home, including items that belonged to Mirkin's late husband, who died in a house fire two years prior. The police are now handling the investigation through their Robbery-Homicide Division and are actively seeking the suspects, who escaped in a white Honda Accord.

Mirkin was taken to the hospital and, despite her traumatic experience, she is reported to be in stable condition. Local residents expressed their shock at the violent nature of the incident, emphasizing that crime in the area has typically been minor, such as mailbox thefts.

Kristen Stavola, executive director of We Are Laurel Canyon, reflected on the emotional impact of the home invasion, saying, "She’s pretty shaken up, as anyone would be after being assaulted in your home." As the investigation continues, Mirkin’s neighbors are keen on ensuring her safety and well-being, stating their commitment to look out for her in the future.
