AL-MUGHAYYIR, West Bank — A violent raid by Israeli settlers on a Palestinian village has left two people dead, including a 14-year-old schoolboy, marking a grim escalation in what human rights groups describe as a systematic campaign against Palestinian education.

The attack took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at an all-boys school in Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah. The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the victims as Aws Al-Naasan, a ninth-grade student, and Jihad Abu Naim, 32, a local parent who had rushed to the school during the assault.

Eyewitnesses and school officials described a scene of chaos as armed settlers approached the campus during school hours. Video footage from the scene appears to show an armed man in military fatigues advancing toward the village before firing multiple rounds toward the school building.

Two people were killed—14-year-old Aws Al-Naasan and 32-year-old Jihad Abu Naim—and four others were wounded when settlers reportedly targeted students in a West Bank schoolyard. The attack prompted parents to rush to the scene to protect their children amid conflicting reports of military involvement; local residents alleged that Israeli soldiers accompanied the settlers, while the military maintained its forces were deployed only to disperse a confrontation sparked by stone-throwing.

The tragedy in Al-Mughayyir is part of a broader "spate of attacks" targeting Palestinian educational infrastructure in the West Bank.
