In a personal and deeply spiritual letter addressed to President Donald Trump, evangelist Franklin Graham president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association offered both congratulations and a heartfelt appeal regarding the state of the president’s soul.
Graham began by commending the president for what he called “incredible accomplishments” specifically citing the cease-fire between Israel and Hamas and the return of hostages. “Your leadership is historic,” Graham wrote. “This is an answer to much prayer. Jesus said, ‘Blessed are the peacemakers’ (Matthew 5:9) and Mr. President, that is what you are.”
The letter then shifted to a more personal matter. Graham noted the president’s recent comment to the media that he “might not be heaven bound.” While acknowledging the remark may have been made in jest, Graham stressed the eternal significance of the question. “It is an important issue to know for certain that your soul is secure and will spend eternity in the presence of God,” he wrote.
Graham laid out the core message of his Christian faith: salvation comes only through Jesus Christ, not through good works, prominence, or success. He urged the president to turn from sin, believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again, and invite Him into his heart. “If you accept that by faith,” Graham promised, “you ARE heaven bound, I promise you.”
Citing Romans 10:9, Graham concluded by assuring the president of continued prayers, signing the letter as “your friend, Franklin Graham.”
