During a preliminary hearing at the Lower Criminal Court, the defendant—an Asian national—formally admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol and causing the fatal crash.

The accident occurred around 2:25 a.m. local time on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 when the defendant’s vehicle, traveling at high speed, reportedly swerved violently across multiple lanes before slamming into another car. The impact was so severe that emergency responders had to use specialized equipment to extract the victims from the wreckage.

The crash claimed the life of a local driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene due to catastrophic injuries. A passenger in the same vehicle was rushed to the Salmaniya Medical Complex in critical condition.
