Laguna Sting: P112K in Shabu and Illegal Firearm Seized in Bold Police Raid

SINILOAN, Laguna – A targeted police operation on Friday afternoon, April 10, 2026, led to the arrest of a suspected drug pusher and the recovery of over P112,000 worth of illegal drugs and an undocumented firearm. The suspect, identified by the alias "Rhime," a 45-year-old local resident, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted by anti-illegal drugs operatives in Barangay Liyang.

The sting operation was launched at approximately 2:52 p.m. after "Rhime" allegedly sold a package of methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, to an undercover officer posing as a buyer. Upon confirmation of the sale, back-up officers moved in to secure the suspect.

Following the arrest, law enforcers seized seven sealed plastic sachets containing approximately 16.5 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P112,200. In addition to the narcotics, officers recovered an undocumented .38 caliber revolver loaded with two live rounds, underscoring the armed nature of the operation.

Colonel Sandro Jay Tafalla, the Laguna police chief, confirmed the success of the operation in a report issued Saturday. He emphasized that the removal of both illegal drugs and an unlicensed weapon from the streets is a significant step in the regional campaign against organized crime.

"Our operatives remain vigilant in our mission to dismantle local drug distribution networks," Col. Tafalla stated. "Every firearm and sachet we seize makes our communities safer for everyone."

"Rhime" is currently held in police custody and is facing multiple criminal charges. These include violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165) for the sale and possession of illegal substances, as well as charges related to the illegal possession of a firearm.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the suspect's potential links to larger drug syndicates operating within the Calabarzon region.
