AGARTALA, TRIPURA – A tense security operation along the Indo-Bangladesh international border resulted in the deaths of three suspected intruders on Sunday, May 10, 2026. The Border Security Force (BSF) reported that the individuals were shot during an alleged attempt to illegally cross into Indian Territory under the cover of darkness in the Tripura sector.

According to official statements from the BSF Tripura Command, the encounter took place in the early hours of the morning. Alert personnel spotted a group of individuals attempting to breach the border fence using specialized equipment.

Authorities believe the group may have been part of a larger organized smuggling syndicate operating across the porous border regions of the Northeast.

The BSF has lodged a formal protest with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB), as is standard protocol following a fatal encounter at the international boundary. A flag meeting is expected to be convened to discuss the incident and facilitate the repatriation of the bodies.
