Paper Cutter Murder: UP Man Arrested for Killing Wife After Dispute Over Affair

MEERUT, UTTAR PRADESH – Local authorities have arrested a man in the Lisari Gate area of Meerut for the brutal murder of his wife. The suspect allegedly slit her throat using a paper cutter after a heated confrontation regarding his ongoing extramarital affair.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Afsana, was found dead in a pool of blood inside her residence on Tuesday evening, April 28, 2026. According to police reports, the suspect, Salman, had been embroiled in frequent domestic disputes with his wife over the past several months.

Neighbors reported hearing muffled screams coming from the house, but by the time anyone arrived to check, the suspect had already fled the scene.

Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the gruesome act was infidelity. Family members of the deceased claimed that Afsana had recently discovered evidence of Salman's involvement with another woman.

"She had been pleading with him to end the affair for the sake of their children," a relative stated. "Instead of remorse, he responded with violence."

On the day of the murder, a fresh argument broke out. In a fit of rage, Salman allegedly produced a heavy-duty paper cutter—an item he reportedly kept for work-related purposes—and attacked Afsana, inflicting a fatal wound to her neck.

Following the discovery of the body, Meerut police formed multiple teams to track down the accused. Salman was apprehended late Wednesday night while attempting to leave the district.

During the preliminary investigation, police recovered the blood-stained paper cutter from the scene for forensic analysis. The suspect, Salman, reportedly confessed to the murder during interrogation, claiming his actions were triggered by "constant nagging" regarding his personal life.

Consequently, authorities have registered a case against him under Section 103 (Murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Superintendent of Police (City) addressed the media, stating that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and further legal proceedings are underway.

"This is a tragic case of domestic violence fueled by personal disputes," the officer said. "We are ensuring a watertight case to bring justice to the victim and her family."

The couple’s children are currently being cared for by maternal relatives as the community grapples with the shock of the violent incident.
