WARSAW, May 6, 2026: Poland is taking bold steps to enhance its military capabilities, emphasizing the need for a defense budget that reaches 5% of GDP by the year 2030. This announcement comes in response to the urgent security realities faced in Eastern Europe following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

During a NATO meeting, Defense Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz stated, “In light of the deteriorating security environment, it is essential for Poland to further increase defense expenditures. We need to ensure that our military is prepared for any potential threats.” Currently, Poland's defense spending is projected to reach 4.7% of GDP this year, making it one of the highest among NATO members.

The proposed budget aims to enhance military capabilities significantly, focusing on modernization and readiness for defensive operations. To achieve this goal, Poland is expected to focus on acquiring advanced weaponry, increasing troop numbers, and strengthening overall military infrastructure.
