Rockville Man Charged with Plotting Attack Against Trump Administration Official

Colin Demarco was arrested earlier this month and is facing several serious charges, including attempted murder, criminal solicitation to commit murder, and carrying a concealed weapon. The incident occurred on August 10, 2025, when Demarco allegedly approached Vought’s residence in Arlington, Virginia.

Demarco's actions were captured by a doorbell camera, which showed him arriving at the OMB director's home and inquiring about Vought from a neighbor. His demeanor — wearing a surgical mask, rubber gloves, and allegedly possessing a firearm — raised alarm. The Arlington County Police received a tip-off regarding his suspicious behavior.

Before this visit, Demarco reportedly expressed violent intentions through online communications. He is said to have solicited others on the messaging platform Discord to carry out an attack, referencing violent acts to encourage participation. The authorities traced these communications and utilized a search warrant to access Demarco's digital records, which revealed further plans and intentions.

In an interview with investigators, Demarco initially denied visiting Vought's home but later claimed he sought directions. However, he was later linked to posts that indicated his intentions were far more sinister. The police noted that he was expressing discontent regarding Vought’s role in Project 2025, a conservative political agenda associated with the Trump administration.

An OMB spokesperson stated they are thankful for law enforcement's efforts in maintaining the safety of Director Vought and his family. Demarco is currently being held without bond, and the investigation is ongoing as law enforcement looks into further connections and motivations behind this alarming plot.

Demarco is scheduled to appear in court on February 23, 2026. The implications of this case highlight escalating tensions and political violence becoming more pervasive in today's environment, raising concerns among experts and authorities alike.
