KUWAIT CITY — A major tragedy was averted on Thursday morning, April 23, 2026, when Kuwait Fire Force (KFF) sea rescue units successfully pulled a man from the waters of the Arabian Gulf following a suspected suicide attempt from the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway.

The incident began shortly before dawn when commuters on the 36-kilometer bridge—one of the longest maritime causeways in the world—reported seeing a vehicle parked in the emergency lane. Witnesses described a man climbing the safety railing and plunging into the sea before they could intervene.

KFF’s Central Operations Room immediately dispatched the Shuwaikh Fire and Sea Rescue Station and the Salmiya Sea Rescue Station to the coordinates.
