BUKHA, OMAN – A residential building in the Musandam Governorate was struck in a targeted attack on Monday, May 4, 2026, leaving two expatriate workers injured and marking a dangerous escalation in regional hostilities.

The strike occurred in the Tebat area of the State of Bukha, a coastal region overlooking the strategic Strait of Hormuz. According to the official Oman News Agency (ONA), the targeted building was a housing unit for employees of a local company.

The targeted strike in Northern Oman resulted in moderate injuries to two expatriates, both of whom were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The blast also caused significant structural damage at the site, which included shattered windows at a neighboring residence. Additionally, four vehicles parked in the vicinity were damaged as a result of the explosion.

While Omani authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact source of the strike, the incident coincides with a sharp spike in regional tensions. The attack in Bukha followed reports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that it had intercepted multiple cruise missiles launched from Iran, one of which triggered a major fire at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone.

These events represent the first major breach of a ceasefire brokered in early April 2026, which had briefly paused direct conflict between Iran and a coalition involving the U.S. and Israel.

Historically, Oman has maintained a firm policy of neutrality while serving as a vital diplomatic mediator within the Middle East.
