WINDALE, LAKE MACQUARIE – A quiet residential street in Windale became the center of a horrific crime scene last night after a woman was fatally stabbed in her home. Police have since arrested and charged her 32-year-old son with murder, sentencing shockwaves through the tight-knit Lake Macquarie community.

Emergency services were called to the property on South Street at approximately 8:45 p.m. local time on April 19, 2026, following reports of a domestic-related disturbance.

Upon arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics located a 58-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds to her upper body. Despite the frantic efforts of medical teams to stabilize her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the discovery, officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District apprehended a 32-year-old man at the residence without further incident. He was subsequently taken to Belmont Police Station for questioning while specialist forensic teams spent the early hours of Sunday morning meticulously processing the home.

During the search, investigators recovered a knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack, which has been seized for formal DNA analysis.
