UAE Deploys Agentic AI Across Half of Government

during a Cabinet meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, revealed plans to deploy Agentic AI systems across half of the country's government sectors. This significant move positions the UAE as the first government globally to implement autonomous systems at such a scale.

Agentic AI differs from conventional digital tools in its ability to analyze data, make independent decisions, and execute multi-step processes without needing constant human oversight. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that these AI models will serve as executive partners, enhancing services and boosting operational efficiency. "AI will support decisions, evaluate results, and introduce improvements in real time," he stated.

To facilitate this transformation, all federal employees will undergo specialized training in AI technologies. Furthermore, performance in the deployment of AI will be closely monitored, with ministers and directors evaluated based on their effectiveness in implementing these systems.

The plan is part of a broader vision, building on prior initiatives such as the establishment of a Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031. The country has a robust digital infrastructure, which includes eGovernment services and a sovereign cloud, providing a solid foundation for this ambitious transition.

As the UAE moves towards this advanced model of governance, the initiative not only aims to reduce operational costs but also positions the nation as a leader in AI-driven public administration. With continuous performance assessments and impact reviews guiding the phased rollout, the UAE is set to redefine government operations in an increasingly digital world.
